Since joining the organisation in 2024, Dr. Gonzalez has demonstrated exceptional leadership, clinical excellence, and an unwavering commitment to advancing specialised neurological care for Hawaiʻi’s patients and their ʻohana.

“Dr. Gonzalez has become a trusted resource for patients and families navigating these challenging neurological conditions — her leadership has played a vital role in expanding our mission to provide world-class neuroscience care, research, and education within our local community.”

A First-of-Its-Kind Programme in Hawaiʻi

As the first specialist in Hawaiʻi with dual fellowship training in both Neuroimmunology and Neuromuscular Disease, Dr. Gonzalez has built a programme unlike anything previously available in the islands. Her expertise spans the comprehensive management of complex neuroimmunological conditions, Multiple Sclerosis, and a broad spectrum of neuromuscular disorders — areas that have historically required patients to travel to the mainland for advanced care.

Her work has helped bridge a critical gap in specialised neurological care across the Hawaiian Islands by bringing the latest IV biologic therapies, innovative treatment approaches, and groundbreaking clinical research opportunities directly to local patients. Through the MS & Neuroimmunology & Neuromuscular Research Unit, she serves as Principal Investigator, ensuring that Hawaiʻi’s patients have access to cutting-edge trials that were once exclusively available on the mainland.

Centres Under Dr. Gonzalez’s Direction

Dr. Gonzalez continues to serve as Director of two flagship centres within Hawaiʻi Pacific Neuroscience:

MS & Neuroimmunology Center

Comprehensive care for Multiple Sclerosis and complex neuroimmunological conditions, integrating the latest disease-modifying therapies and research protocols.

ALS & Neuromuscular Center & Infusion Center

Specialised management of ALS and neuromuscular diseases, supported by an on-site infusion centre that delivers advanced biologic therapies locally.

Professional Training & Background

Dr. Gonzalez’s clinical depth is grounded in training at some of the most respected academic medical centres in the United States:

  • Neuroimmunology Fellowship — Northwestern University, Chicago, IL
  • Neuromuscular Fellowship — University of California School of Medicine, Irvine, CA
  • Neurology Residency — University of Texas Southwestern, Dallas, TX

Looking Ahead: The Role of Chief of Staff

In her new role as Chief of Staff, Dr. Gonzalez will help guide the strategic growth, clinical integration, and advancement of Hawaiʻi Pacific Neuroscience’s mission — expanding access to specialised neuroscience care and research for patients and families throughout the Hawaiian Islands.

Her promotion reflects the organisation’s broader commitment to building a world-class, locally rooted neuroscience programme — one that pairs compassionate, multidisciplinary patient care with the most innovative research and treatment options available in the field today.

We congratulate Dr. Gonzalez on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to the continued impact her leadership will bring to our patients, our team, and the broader Hawaiʻi community.
