Biography

Dr. Chathura Siriwardhana is an associate professor of biostatistics in the Department of Quantitative Health Sciences at the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaiʻi, where he also serves as chair of graduate programs. He earned his Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the University of Louisville in 2016 and joined the University of Hawaiʻi shortly thereafter.

Dr. Siriwardhana’s scholarship advances data-driven solutions to pressing public health challenges. His recent methodological work develops statistical algorithms for personalized medicine, focusing on data complexities such as modeling multiple correlated outcomes and addressing censored data. As principal investigator, he led the NIH-funded project “Racial/Ethnic Disparities in the Alzheimer’s Disease Link with Heart Disease and Stroke” (R03AG075034), integrating modern data science methods to clarify complex disease relationships and inequities.

As an educator, he teaches graduate-level courses in biostatistics and mentors trainees across the health sciences. He also collaborates widely with research groups throughout Hawaiʻi, providing biostatistical expertise that strengthens study design, analysis, and interpretation across health and public health investigations.
