Biography

Biography

Dr. DuGas grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.  He developed a passion for neurology and saw the difference it made while working as a pharmacist.  His journey took him back to medical school to eventually complete his neurology, epilepsy, EEG, Video-EEG training at Yale Medical school.    His wife grew up in Molokai and naturally, he did not think twice when offered a job to serve as the director of the Video-EEG Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and the EEG Diagnostic Laboratory at Hawaii Pacific Neuroscience.

The EEG laboratory is the first epilepsy center in Hawaii recognized and accredited by Neurodiagnostic Credentialing and Accreditation of ABRET (American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists), the accreditation organization for EEG labs in US.   He will also co-direct the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center to care for patients with seizures related disorders including those related to head injury, concussion, stroke, dizziness and other general neurologic conditions.

His goal is to ensure that all patients receive truly the best evidence-based treatments and identifying those patients who may be candidates for the latest interventions including cutting edge research options that for the right patient can provide life changing results.   He hopes to play a small part in the scientific pursuit to bring new cutting-edge treatments and advancements to the islands of Hawaii for many years to come.
