Continuum: Lifelong Learning in Neurology® is the official CME journal of the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) and one of the most widely read and used journal worldwide by practicing neurologists, neurology residents and students.  Each bimonthly issue contains up-to-date knowledge around a single topic area in neurology.

Latest issue 2025 February on Review article of Epilepsy on “A Multidisciplinary Approach to Nonepileptic Events” referenced the work of University Hawaii John Burns School of Medicine previous medical students Rachel Gorenflo, Richard Ho, Arash Ghaffari-Rafi  and neurologists Enrique Carrazana, MD and Kore Liow, MD while working at the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center and Video-EEG Monitoring Unit, Honolulu, Hawaii.

The work characterized the risk factors and exploring how nonepileptic events differentially affects sex and racial strata in a state like Hawaii. Lower socioeconomic status, along with several psychiatric and medical comorbidities, could increase a clinician’s suspicion for earlier medical workup and diagnosis of PNES.
